Experience
I was a high school math and science teacher for three years after college and I absolutely loved my job. I taught a lot of subjects, including Algebra 1, Algebra 2, Geometry, Honors Geometry, Honors Statistics, Trigonometry, and Honors Chemistry. I only stopped teaching because of the birth of my first child and it seemed prudent to stay home with my children. Even after I stopped teaching I wanted to be involved in education, so I began tutoring former students one-on-one, both in their homes and in central locations like libraries. When I moved away from that area, I began tutoring at Huntington Learning Center where I did math and science subject tutoring and also ACT tutoring. I am a recent transplant to Texas and am looking to begin tutoring again down here. I have always been passionate about education and I love tutoring. Being able to work one-on-one with students allows me to really focus on areas where they are having trouble and to adapt my teaching to their style of learning. In the end, nothing makes me happier than seeing a difficult topic click for a child and watching them gain confidence as they begin to succeed where they’ve struggled in the past.
