Experience

Honing the perceptive faculties of the student's mind involves the germination of a quaint appreciation for their studies. This can be brought about by giving constant and consistent reinforcement of his/her strengths and abilities to grow intellectually and to seek out a higher awareness of details that many mistake for obscure. Finer abilities of discrimination will be the reward of every developing mind with the heightened awarness of what lies beneath each new concept, and this awareness builds cummulatively to the delight of every growing and successful student. As a graduate of the University of St. Thomas, Houston and then Ross University School of Medicine I employed these faculties of mind across many diverse planes of teaching and learning. I majored in Liberal Arts while concurrently completing my premedical courses prior to entering medical school and worked a couple years as Lab Technician for Cancer Research and Biomedical Sciences lab where I coauthored several publications involving prostate cancer research. I am currently applying to residency programs while working as a Medical Assistant along side of tutoring. I enjoy teaching as much as learning and hope to remain employed in both for the rest of my life. Not missing a single day, I consistently ran three to miles followed by one hour of weight lifting between the years 1993-2000. Since then, I have limited my work out to every other day when not in school. From first grade through college, I participated in competitive select and club soccer leagues. I attained all honors in math through Calculus II in college, with the exception of one 'B' in Trigonometry,. Therefore, I was awarded the distinction of Professional Math Tutor.

Hobbies

My favorite hobby is running. Other hobbies: medical novels, classical poetry and literature, soccer, and playing guitar. As my school's Phi Theta Kappa International Honor Society's Vice President of Service, I coordinated members to volunteer with the tutoring organization Help One Student to Succeed (HOSTS), the Mental Health/Mental Retardation Association (MHMRA), and five Christmas and Thanksgiving food drives. I also organized child fingerprinting drives and Christmas donations and gift distribution to families in need. Beyond volunteer work, I coordinated international Phi Theta Kappa conventions, regional conferences, chapter initiation and induction ceremonies, and officer meetings.
