I have always held a high-regard for education and I have more than a decade of teaching experience. Although I hold a degree in history, with minors in English and political science as well as a successful teaching career, I continue to pursue my own education. I feel that it is important for me to advance my studies to increase my knowledge base and also to help keep me in the same mindset as students. When working with students I feel that it is necessary to relate to the challenges they face and to be able to effectively communicate lessons and knowledge to them. I am very passionate about connecting to students on the individual level and to assist them through their personal academic challenges. I have nine years of experience teaching secondary school and three years of teaching experience in elementary and post-secondary school. I have worked as a high school assistant principal, and I am currently the principal at a public charter high school. I have also worked with students on standardized test preparation, and I am proud to say that my classrooms have experienced several STARR and TAKS passing rates of one hundred percent.
